Are you sweaty? Are you concerned about the effect of your perspiration on your notebook? Do you find yourself often plopping down on the couch, only to realize that you’ve landed on your laptop? According to APC Magazine, in an effort to distinguish its netbook from everyone else’s, NEC is giving its forthcoming LaVie Light netbook a magnesium alloy chassis that can withstand up to 330 pounds for 5 seconds. NEC also flung fake sweat all over the LaVie Light (a.k.a. the Versa N1100 for Asian-Pacific consumers) to ensure the finish on the outside and inside stay fresh, even if you don’t.

Aside from its linebacker-proof casing, the LaVie Light shares most of the same specs of other netbooks: Atom processor, 160GB hard drive, 1GB of RAM, Windows XP Home with SP2, and a one-year warranty. Curiously, the warranty does not cover damage from falls or user abuse.
